Solutions

• (F) - special font is used. See Encodings for why this solution can cause difficulties.
• (3) - Latin-3 (ISO-8859-3) used. See Encodings for what this means. Many systems do not handle this codepage properly. However, it is at least a real international standard with some hope of support.
• (U) - Unicode, the best encoding ever, is used. See Encodings.
• (F) - special font is used. See Encodings. Not recommended.
• (3) - Latin-3 (ISO-8859-3) used. See Encodings. I don't recommend this.

Windows

• Are you using Windows XP Service pack 2? You already have Maltese support!
  See the document on how to enable the keyboard here. (thanks to the CSC, University of Malta). You will need the free Acrobat reader to view this. (U)
• Not on XP SP2 yet? Use the CIMU driver Update: it has moved to here (U)
• paulseph's Win32 keyboard mappings .. not MSA100, but uses alt-H, alt-C, alt-G, alt-Z etc.
• Gyula Zsigri's FontBoard - works with 95/98/ME, as well as 2000,xp (maybe not NT?) (u)
• MSA 100:2002 keyboard driver - works with win2k+ (u)
• Maltese Language System for Microsoft Word, other keyboard drivers at CIMU. (U)
• IRC in Maltese - mIRC script. (3)
• KeyMan - the author says: "I have created a Keyman keyboard to type Maltese in the Unicode-compliant applications of Windows 9x or 2000." (U) srl's note: I am now testing this. Looks promising.
• SC UniPad [at bottom of page] - with Maltese keyboard. Can edit plain text (utf-8, etc) files in Maltese. Use instead of notepad! Maltese keyboard is here

Macintosh

• Maltese WorldScript (3)
